Creating a Facility Map in Settings

Map out your facility floor by floor and place each unit on the canvas, so your layout appears in the Facility Map view.

Overview

This article shows you how to create a Facility Map from the facility's Settings in the sidebar menu so you get a top-down (bird’s eye view) layout of your storage facility. Add the floors of your facility, then place your units and objects on a canvas to build a visual layout. Once the map is complete, your units also appear in the Facility Map view under Units.

Prerequisites

Before you start creating a Facility Map, confirm the following are in place:

  • The Facility Map permission is enabled at the Corporate level. Navigate to Users > Roles and Permissions, open the facility tab you want to create the map for, and make sure both Edit and Read are enabled under Facility Map permission.

  • Each unit you want to place on the map has a Width and a Length attribute assigned.

  • Each unit you want to place on the map is active.

Step 1: Add Floors

Navigate to the Facility Map Settings, open the map editor and define one floor for each level of your facility.

  1. Navigate to the Facility level and select Settings from the sidebar menu.

  2. Select Facility Map. The Facility Map dashboard opens.

  3. Click Edit Map button in the top right corner.

ℹ️ Info: You can add as many floors as your facility has. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for each floor before clicking Save Changes.

⚠️ Warning: If you exit without clicking Save Changes, your unsaved changes are lost. This applies both to the floors you add here and to the units and objects you place on the map.

Step 2: Build the Map with Units and Objects

Place your units and any physical objects onto the map canvas. After you save the floors, the Facility Map dashboard reopens and the list of units on the left is now active and clickable.

  1. Drag a unit from the list on the left and drop it onto the blank canvas.

  2. Repeat for each unit you want to add to the map for the selected floor, for example, in this case 1st.

  3. Drag and drop objects onto the canvas as needed.

ℹ️ Info: When you place a unit on the canvas, it becomes inactive in the list on the left. This means you cannot add the same unit to the map twice.
