Creating Data Streams in Google Analytics to Track Website & Tenant Portal Traffic

In order to track data on our website, Google needs to know where visitors come from. By default, your data stream will be configured to your website address i.e.:

myacmestorage.com

If you are using QMS, you want to ensure that Google Analytics is also tracking user activity on your tenant portal. To do that, we'll create a second data stream for Google Analytics.

Open Google Analytics

Click on "Admin"

Go to Data Streams

Click "Add Stream"
Select "Web"

Click "Yes" if you get the following notice:

Add the following:

  1. Your Tenant Portal URL

  2. Name the Data Stream something like "Your Storage" Tenant Portal

Click "Create & Continue"

You should now have two data streams that look something like this:

At this stage, it is best to click on each data stream to grab the measurement ID for each and paste it somewhere easily accessible as they will be needed for Google Tag Manager setup. No worries if you don't though, you can always come back here in analytics to retrieve it.

When we reference your measurement ID, we're always referring to the value that appears in this section. It will be different for every website and every data stream.
